Big Bear Yoga Festival

Reiki Jin Shin Jyutsu® by Dixie Madden will be participating in the Inaugural Big Bear Yoga Festival August 23-25 2013.

Dixie Madden is an alternative health care practitioner specializing in Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu® therapies for both humans and animals. These ancient practices from Japan help with healing, rejuvenation and relaxation. Although each individual experience varies, session recipients report relief from back and hip pain, headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, weakened immune systems and much more.

Each session takes place in a beautiful, serene setting and clients remain clothed, simply removing shoes jewelry before reclining upon the massage table. Gentle touch positions on the body’s safety energy locks insure individuals receive what is needed to unblock, harmonize and restore balance.

Spearheaded by Big Bear Yoga, the Big Bear Yoga Festival is a special health and wellness event, open to anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors, celebrate and practice yoga, and have a great time. Event hours will be Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday 8am – 10pm, Sunday 8am – 3:30pm.

Yoga teachers from all over Southern California will be leading and sharing their passion for yoga. The Big Bear Yoga Festival will be offering a Beginners Track which has easy classes such as beginning yoga, how to meditate and therapeutic yoga. More advanced students can come to sessions for a more intense workout, try a new style of yoga or deepen their current yoga practice.

Optional meals are included in the cost of festival attendance and attendees will also be able to enjoy live music and other classes such as Belly Dance Stretch (Belly-O), Laughter Yoga, Meditation as well as lectures on topics such as Eating Healthy, and Kirtan (call and response singing).

Daniel Head, of The Yoga Room in Redlands, will be leading a Tribal Yoga Rave on Friday night at the camp, complete with glow-sticks and live DJ music. On August 24th, the musical ensemble, Yoga Das will perform.

The Big Bear Yoga Festival venue will be held at Camp Oakes, a spacious YMCA camp with many amenities such as hiking trails, pool, an observatory, inside and outside yoga spaces, an outside amphitheater with fire circle for music, a climbing wall, and even a small lake for canoeing. All classes and activities are included with purchase of ticket. For over 50 years, Camp Oakes has offered generations of children, groups, and families an ultimate camp experience with high quality programs.

Reiki Shakes Up Your Chakras

By ARRISSIA OWEN Reporter
Nepal bells ring, hovering over your body at the hands of Dixie Madden. Madden, a local Reiki practitioner, subtly lets your body know she is about to get to work balancing your bio field.
The nearly-90-year-old energy healing method created by a Japanese Buddhist, claims to help the body heal naturally and offer stress relief through holistic means. Reiki has no religious affiliation. It focuses on harmony.
Through palm healing, the Reiki practitioner channels universal energy through his or herself into the client by activating the natural healing process with a subtle manipulation of chakras. With circular motions, the energy starts flowing. Reiki may help with symptoms such as pain, anxiety and fatigue.
The chakra massage activates the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restores physical and emotional wellness. Through manipulation of a person’s energy and lightly laying hands on the person, one’s universal life force, chi, is strengthened. – Read full Article
